Biography
Capt. Mike Conner has split his professional time between inshore saltwater charter guiding and outdoor writing since 1980. A lifelong Floridian, he is adept with all types of fishing tackle--fly, spin, baitcasting and heavy surf casting.
Currently the owner of Mean Tide Media, publisher of Fly & Light Tackle Angler, a digital app iPad magazine in the Apple app store, he serves as editor-in-chief. His past fishing magazine masthead positions include: Managing Editor, Florida Sportsman (16 years), Editor, Shallow Water Angler magazine (8 years), and he is a current contributing writer for Fishing Tackle Retailer magazine. Past credits include features in Fly Rod & Reel, Fly Fishing in Saltwaters, Tide Magazine and Fly Fusion. Mike recieved a Florida Oudoor Writers Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for outstanding outdoor writing and communication.
His regular columns in Fly & Light Tackle Angler cover fly fishing, fly tying, seafood cuisine and conventional tackle rigging. Mike also hosted two national fishing TV shows, Florida Sportsman TV and Shallow Water Angler TV for 8 years. In that time, he fished in every U.S. Atlantic and Gulf coastal state.
MIke's charter fishing specialities include sight casting on tidal flats and the surf, and he is a commercial fly tyer and instructor who designs contract royalty fly patterns sold by Umpqua Feather Merchants.
